Papyrus is the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide and aims to support young people struggling whilst raising awareness and shattering the stigma around suicide. One of the key ways it supports young people is through its helpline, HOPELINEUK, which provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide and those closest to them. In recent years, demand for the helpline, which is currently open from 9am until midnight, has dramatically increased and the charity is hoping to open it 24/7 and the Vistry Group has helped them in their fundraising efforts throughout 2022, to achieve this.
Fundraising efforts has seen those across the Group taking part in various activities such as skydiving, golf days, a dinner and dance, acting as cleaners for the day and sporting a football shirt in the office, to name just a few. The Group also launched a companywide campaign known as the ‘Vistry Voyage’ spanning across six weeks that saw teams across the country transporting the ‘book of awareness’ from their office in the Northeast, all the way to the Southwest with 21 stops along the way. The book was signed and filled with messages from colleagues across the country, pledging their support to raising vital awareness of suicide prevention. The challenge equated to 1,163 miles and colleagues had to transport the book without the use of motorised transport.
Representatives from Papyrus recently joined Earl Sibley, Chief Operating Officer and colleagues from across the Vistry Group at their Bishops Cleeve office, for a cheque presentation to hand over the incredible funds raised.
Earl Sibley, Chief Operating Officer, said “A few instances throughout the year has really bought it home for a lot of people at Vistry in terms of the importance of the work and support that Papyrus can do. It has resonated with everyone across the group which has led to the sheer quantum of activity that the group has done.”
Amanda Scott Barbera, Corporate Fundraising Manager, Papyrus charity, comments, “The whole of the Vistry Group and all their business units have been a delight to work with. Because the staff voted the charity in, everyone has been keen to get involved and the Group have been extremely generous.”
Papyrus has reported that the Vistry Group is their most successful corporate partnership to date and have raised truly life changing sums for their charity.
The Vistry Group has just announced their 2023 charity partnership with Alzheimer’s Society in the hope to continue their fundraising efforts for another vital cause.
