Teamwork and going the extra mile or two has helped Vistry Group reach a staggering £500,000 for the company's charity of the year Alzheimer's Society.
With around 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK, this charity proved to be close to many colleague's hearts - especially as this figure is projected to rise to 1.6million by 2040.
One in two people will either get or will have to care for someone with dementia. The money raised by Vistry Group will not only support those with the disease and their loved ones but will also go towards groundbreaking research in a bid to beat Alzheimer’s.
New treatments are being developed and research is currently at a tipping point with some exciting developments recently made. There are 143 drug trials for Alzheimer’s disease – 117 of them aiming to slow down the progression of the disease. Thanks to our fundraising, this vital research can continue.
Across our regions, there have been plenty of activities taking place to raise awareness and fundraise. From bake sales, dress ups, raffles and competitions in our sites and offices to endurance challenges, events and campaigns taken on and organised by teams throughout the business – and not forgetting Mount E-Vistry.
Fundraising is continuing until the end of the year – and the grand total will be announcemed in early 2024!
Charlotte Mattier - associate director of fundraising, Alzheimer’s Society said: "We're delighted here at Alzheimer's Society to see that all of Vistry Group's hard work has resulted in you smashing the £500k fundraising milestone. It's been incredible to see all of you come together and raise vital funds for people affected by dementia.
"Vistry Group are one of Alzheimer’s Society’s top fundraisers in 2023, and you have broken the record of the most raised by a group of employees in one year. Thanks to all your dedication and support, we can fund groundbreaking research and provide life-changing dementia services across the UK! Well done Vistry Group''
