Vistry donates items to Arc homeless charity this Christmas

Bovis and Linden properties
Vistry Group, which builds Bovis and Linden properties, has donated much-needed items this Christmas to Taunton-based homeless charity, Arc.

The housebuilder, which is building new homes locally at Orchard Grove in Comeytrowe, arranged a collection point and donated a selection of everyday items including socks, gloves and toiletries, as well as sleeping bags, roll mats, travel pillows and chocolates.

Arc is a charitable organisation that house, support and enable homeless people in Somerset to maximise their potential by offering accommodation and an outreach service.

Rosie Hather, head of development at Arc, commented: “The number of people who are rough sleeping has risen enormously and we’re helping over 350 people per year. We are very appreciative of donations from our wish-list as we simply couldn’t operate without significant support from the local community. Whether people are raising awareness, money or donating items, every bit of help is gratefully received.”

Natasha Palmer, area sales director at Vistry Western, commented: “Our staff, customers and our site team donated items to help those rough sleeping, as well as cutlery, utensils, glasses, plates and bowls for the charity’s accommodation.

“Arc do a fantastic job and will now be organising the items, matching them with individuals and distributing them to ensure everyone receives what they need. This is a very difficult time of year for many and we’re pleased to help in this small way.”

Vistry is part of the consortium responsible for delivering Orchard Grove in Comeytrowe, in joint venture with South West housing association, LiveWest.

Once complete, Orchard Grove will feature 2,000 homes within two neighbourhoods, a primary school, business park, local centre, park and bus service, plus 100 acres of open green space that will include play areas, allotments and sports pitches.
