Barton Bash enjoys biggest turnout as Vistry continues support for popular event

Barton Bash 2023
A popular community event in Oxford is going from strength to strength with support from a local housebuilder.

Vistry Thames Valley has donated £500 to the Barton Bash, a family fun day run by the Barton Community Association.

Half of the money was put towards the most recent Barton Bash in September – described by organisers as the best yet - while the remainder will be used for the Christmas event on Sunday 17 December.

Held at Barton Neighbourhood Centre, September’s bash featured a range of attractions, including a mini zoo, corsage making lessons, free bike maintenance sessions, food stalls, a photo booth, a tombola, a variety of physical activities such as softball and darts, and a DJ set.

December’s festive gathering, which takes place at the same venue, will include a raffle, gentle exercise, and a three-course Christmas meal, with several more activities to be confirmed closer to the event.

Sue Holden, Company Secretary at Barton Community Association, said: “September’s event was our best bash ever. We had the biggest turnout we ever had. It is great to be able to bring together the community and see so many families enjoying the festivities. It would not be possible without the sponsors we get, and we are extremely grateful to Vistry for their continued support.

“I am very excited for the Christmas event. It provides us with the opportunity to help our isolated community members at a time when they need company more than ever during the holiday season.”

Vistry Thames Valley is building homes under its Countryside Homes brand at its Beckley Place location, which is part of the wider Barton Park neighbourhood being created at the north-eastern edge of Oxford.

Alix Laflin, marketing manager at Vistry Thames Valley, said: “We see ourselves as being at the heart of the growing Barton Park community and are keen to work with local organisations doing great work like Barton Community Association.

“Events such as the Barton Bash help to bring residents closer together and to create a stronger sense of community. It’s extremely heartening to know that September’s bash was the best yet and we hope the Christmas event will be just as successful.”

Vistry Thames Valley is part of the Vistry Group which comprises Linden Homes, Bovis Homes, and Countryside Homes.

Beckley Place is a collection of one, two and three-bedroom apartments and two, three, four and five bedroom houses located off Barton Fields Road.
