Vistry Thames Valley, which is building at the Didcot Grove location in the town, provided £500 to Harwell and Hendred Youth Football Club to fund the purchase of the new strip for its U8 Blacks side.
And the team, which plays in the A League, made a winning start in their new yellow and black kit by recording a 2-1 victory over St Edmunds in the first round of the Gold Cup.
The club is based at Boundary Park on Greenwood Way and has 22 different teams, ranging from U8s to an adult ladies’ side. The U8 Blacks have 10 players in their team and train every Wednesday.
Scott Drewett, manager of the U8 Blacks, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the sponsorship. The boys are loving the new away strip.
“It’s really important for us to receive sponsorship to support the team’s sports budget, thereby allowing us to support our talented footballers, which may not have been possible without the boost from Vistry.”
Amber Bowley, regional sales director for Vistry Thames Valley, said: “Harwell and Hendred Youth Football Club plays an important role in the local community, offering valuable opportunities for children to learn and play football at every age and ability.
“We’re proud to support their fantastic work by sponsoring the U8 Blacks and delighted that the team won their first game in their new away kit. Let’s hope it’s the first of many!”
