Following the success of Phase 1, which is delivering 157 new homes, the newly approved Phase 2 parcel will continue the commitment to providing high-quality, affordable housing for the community. The 84-unit development boasts an investment of £20.2 million, reinforcing the dedication to creating sustainable and accessible living spaces.
These new homes will make a great addition to the wider Great Haddon project which promises to deliver up to 1,499 homes and will feature 7.5 hectares of amenity open space, 8.4 hectares of accessible natural green space, three play facilities for children, a 4.5-hectare playing field, a 1-hectare allotment, and new water features.
The wider Great Haddon site, holding outline planning permission for up to 5,350 new homes, a district centre, and two neighbourhood centres, is designed to integrate retail, community, health, leisure, residential, and commercial uses. Education facilities, sport and recreational amenities, strategic open space, landscaping, and essential infrastructure are also integral components of the comprehensive planning consent.
Andy Reynolds, Managing Director, South East Midlands, Countryside Partnerships, said: "We are thrilled to have secured planning permission for the second phase of Haddon Cross. This development is a testament to our commitment to creating sustainable, vibrant communities that meet the housing needs of the region. At Countryside, we believe in building communities. The approval of Phase 2 at Great Haddon is a significant step towards fulfilling our mission of creating places people love to call home.”
Michael Baggett, Director of Land and Partnerships at Platform Housing Group, said: “It’s fantastic to see phase two given the green light allowing us to deliver more affordable housing for the Peterborough area. Platform believes we must keep building homes and this site will contribute to our ambitions of helping to provide much needed housing solutions.”
