31 families in new affordable homes in Longford for Christmas

Longford Affordable Housing
31 families will be celebrating their first Christmas in their new affordable homes at Brindley Edge, a new development nestled in the picturesque Longford area near Coventry, as a result of a flourishing partnership between Platform Housing Group and Countryside Partnerships, part of Vistry Group.

Countryside Partnerships, the UK’s leading mixed-tenure developer, has been working with Platform, one of the UK’s largest housing associations, to deliver 101 affordable homes at the 204-property development on the former golf course near Coventry and is delighted that 31 families have moved in in time to celebrate the festive season in their new home.

In total 57 families have moved onto the site this year with 31 families moving into two-, three- and four-bedroom affordable homes in time for the festive season and 26 families investing in an open-market property.

Andy Reynolds, managing director, South East Midlands, Countryside said: “Our partnership work with Platform Housing Group throughout 2023 at Brindley Edge, Longford, is indicative of our commitment to create places where people love to live, with a focus on sustainable communities that are built to last. By putting the community first, and transforming former brownfield sites, together with great partners like Platform, we can create new neighbourhoods of high-quality homes offering a range of tenures to suit local people at different stages of life and with different requirements. It’s great to see so many families settling in to enjoy the festive season in their new homes.”

Kate Ellison, Platform’s director of land, partnerships and business development said,
“We’re delighted for the families who now have a place to call home in time for Christmas. Seeing people move in at any time of year is pleasing for all of us at Platform and it’s what drives us to continue work to keep building homes. It’s partnership work with teams like those at Vistry that give us great opportunities to deliver affordable homes and we look forward to doing even more next year.”

The development at Longford, a well-connected location 20 minutes from Coventry, is perched on the edge of the lazy Coventry Canal. Longford has proved an ideal location for families house hunting for a stylish, high-quality, energy-efficient new build. The village is home to the historic Hawkesbury Junction, where the Oxford and Coventry canals meet. Perfect for walks with the family, these stretches are joined by plenty of parks nearby, including Longford, Wyken Slough and Miner’s Welfare Park. The affordable homes comprise two-, three- and four-bedroom properties, helping to fulfil a wide range of local housing needs and providing high-quality living environments for families in the region.
