Vistry, Manthorpe and the Bat Conservation Trust launch innovative bat roost

Vistry, the UK's leading multi-tenure housebuilder, have partnered with Manthorpe Building Products and the Bat Conservation Trust to launch an innovative new product that will provide accommodation for bats.

Vistry have been in partnership with the Bat Conservation Trust for two years, showcasing their commitment to biodiversity, sustainability and wildlife conservation. Now, they are delighted to welcome Manthorpe Building Products into this collaboration to offer the award-winning Bat Ridge Roost - a ridge end cap designed by Manthorpe Building Products and the Bat Conservation Trust through their Roost Partnership scheme.

The roosting product, launched at Vistry's Hounsome Fields site in Basingstoke, is pre-assembled for ease of a two-part installation, offering a secure, self-contained and thermally stable environment for bats in our built environment where so many of these important spaces have been lost.

As a leading homebuilder, Vistry recognises the importance of incorporating environmentally friendly solutions that are both unobtrusive to homeowners and easy to install. The Manthorpe Ridge Roost™ meets these criteria, allowing for seamless integration into both mortared-in and dry verges.

In collaboration with the Bat Conservation Trust, Vistry will embark on a long-term research project to monitor the use of the Bat Ridge Roost. This initiative will be formally launched in May at Vistry's Buckler's Park site in Crowthorne, Bracknell, further solidifying their commitment to supporting bat conservation efforts.

Through this innovative partnership, Vistry, the Bat Conservation Trust, and Manthorpe are paving the way for sustainable and eco-friendly housing developments that focus on the protection of wildlife and their habitats, while also allowing residents that all important connection with nature.

Earl Sibley, Vistry’s chief operating officer, says: “Vistry Group are pleased to have this exclusive opportunity to launch a truly innovative new type of bat roost on our sites.

“The Bat Conservation Trust is just one of the nature conservation trusts and charities that Vistry partner with to ensure that our sites are delivering the best for both people and wildlife.”
