Vistry acquires new site in Somerset to deliver 140 mixed-tenure homes
Vistry Group, the UK’s leading provider of mixed-tenure homes, has acquired a new site in Templecombe, Somerset, that will deliver up to 140 new homes.
The site benefits from an outline planning permission that also includes public open space, landscaping, biodiversity enhancements, vehicular access from Bowden Road, flexible community use and associated infrastructure.
The development is expected to come forward as a single phase and will deliver a balanced mix of homes, with 50% designated as affordable housing. Vistry is currently in discussions with an affordable housing partner to bring forward this important element of the scheme.
Work is underway on the Reserved Matters application, which is targeted for submission in autumn 2025. Subject to planning approval, construction is anticipated to commence by summer 2026.
Susan Scholfield, Regional Managing Director of Vistry Bristol, commented: “We’re delighted to have secured this site in Templecombe, which will enable us to deliver much-needed mixed-tenure homes in Somerset. The scheme has been carefully designed to reflect the character of the local area while providing a range of housing options, including a significant proportion of affordable homes. We look forward to progressing the Reserved Matters application and working with our partners to bring this exciting development to life.”
