Introduction
On the edge of Basingstoke, Hounsome Fields is a new development where Vistry will deliver 750 new homes across seven distinct phases. The wider development includes additional housing delivered through partnerships with other developers and housing providers.
Many of the residential parcels are complete, with key infrastructure such as the main spine road now finished. Residents will benefit from a wide range of amenities and community facilities including play areas, a neighbourhood centre and nursery.
Housing Delivery and Affordable Homes
Vistry is building and selling homes on this development to our open market customers through our Bovis Homes retail brand.
The development also includes a significant provision of affordable housing, with 245 homes delivered in partnership with VIVID, and a further 205 homes provided by a consortium of Sage Homes, VIVID, and SNG. In addition, 545 homes are designated for the Private Rental Sector, ensuring a well-balanced and inclusive community that caters to a wide range of housing needs.

Community Facilities
Hounsome Fields offers a wide range of thoughtfully planned community facilities designed to support a vibrant and inclusive neighbourhood. Residents will benefit from a Tesco Express convenience store for everyday essentials, alongside two equipped play areas that provide safe and engaging spaces for children. The development is interwoven with footpaths and cycleways, promoting active travel and connectivity throughout the site. A neighbourhood community building and nursery will serve as a hub for local activities and early years education, complemented by a new primary school to support growing families. The site also includes allotments for community gardening and a multi-use games area, ensuring that the needs of a diverse population are met through inclusive and accessible amenities.
Employment and Local Business
The creation of Hounsome Fields has enabled Vistry to work with local suppliers on site and offer training and apprenticeship opportunities to local people.
This development has:
- Skills Academy launched in April 2023 and is ongoing
- 145 learners completed courses, all receiving CSCS Cards
- 725 pre-employment course weeks delivered
- Local Social Economic Value: £141,012
- In 2024, 49 graduates secured employment
- 11 entered construction and property maintenance roles, either as employees or self-employed professionals
